2013-2014 Flu Season Is Here

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, everyone 6 months and older should get a flu vaccine annually.  It’s especially   important for the following groups, either because they are at high risk of developing serious complications or because they live with or care for people at high risk:

  • Pregnant women
  • People age 50 years and older; people with certain chronic medical conditions
  • People who live in long-term care facilities
  • People who live with or care for those at high risk for complications including healthcare workers
  • Household contacts of persons at high risk for complications
  • Household contacts and caregivers of children less than 6 months of age. (These children are too young to be vaccinated.)

Walk-in convenience for Flu Shots

Our pharmacies provide walk-in convenience for those looking for a convenient and inexpensive way to get their flu shot.   Anyone ages 12 and above are able to be vaccinated without a prescription.  Those ages 3 to 11 can also be vaccinated but will need a prescription authorizing us to do so.

What does a sick day cost your business?   Studies say $46 per employee.

If you’re a business owner or responsible for health and wellness at your company, you should consider providing flu shots to your employees.   When employees are out sick, your company suffers.  Productivity drops and sales can falter.  By offering on-site flu shots, you can offer both a benefit to your employees AND reduce the cost of lost productivity due to illness.

Contact us about hosting an on-site flu clinic for your employees.   We arrange all the details and work with you to identify the best time to provide the shots to your employees.  And we’ll bill you at the end of the month.   In addition, if any employees miss the event, they can stop by our pharmacies and complete their flu shot.  We’ll simply bill you later.   In some cases, your insurance plan may cover shots provided by pharmacists at our pharmacies as well.
